One Day

courage poem
The title with an icon of an hourglass below it with the caption that reads: "A poem about finding courage."

One day, you won't recognize the person you look at in the mirror.
No matter how young you feel, your body will remind you of your age.
One day, the imperfections you used to try and hide on your face
Will be hidden behind the wrinkles that show the life you've already lived.

One day, your legs won't carry you like they used to.
The hills you used to run up will become difficult to walk down.
One day, the memories that remind you of what it feels like to be alive
Will become nothing more than a story of a person you can't remember.

One day, you will wish you had expressed your feelings more.
To say, "I'm sorry," to those you've wronged.
To say, "Thank you," to those who supported you.
To say, "I love you," to those who helped you become who you are.

One day, it will be too late to chase the dreams that once inspired you.
The fire that used to burn within your soul will be long gone.
One day, you won't want to experience a life you could have lived,
But want to have a greater appreciation of the life you've been living.

One day, you will no longer be able to become the person you want to be.
You will have already become the person you are.
When your one day comes, will you be able to look back and be proud
Of the life you lived and the world you're leaving behind?

No matter how old you are, you will never be younger than you are today.
Before your one day comes, take time to appreciate your youth.
Welcome all experiences. Live your life to the fullest while you still can.
Find the courage to live the life you're too scared to live.
